Why a movable floor in a therapy pool

According to EWAC Medical, a movable pool floor lets the therapist match the water depth precisely to each patient’s capacity. The buoyancy of the water reduces the load on the joints, making movement and exercise easier and less painful.

• The floor can be set at deck level for step-free, wheelchair-accessible entry, and then lowered to therapy depth.
• The depth can be adapted to different user groups and exercise methods, allowing higher use of the pool.
• Existing therapy pools can also be fitted with a movable floor.

Two types

• Suspended floor (up to 45 m²): the structure hangs from cables anchored in the pool walls; a water-hydraulic cylinder in the frame pulls in the cables.
• Floating floor (from 45 m², up to about 140 m²): with buoyancy tanks, raised and lowered by a water-hydraulic cable system.

According to EWAC Medical, the floor has a stainless steel AISI 316 frame with a deck of removable polyester tiles, has no electrical components in the water, has a completely water-permeable structure and meets the EN 15288:2008, Annex A dye test. It is completely installed within one week and needs a plant room of less than 2 m².
